Fellow Riders, I won't take you through all the gory details but two years ago this August, I was riding the “I'm so sorry, I didn't see your motorcycle.”
When I went down, I punctured my left lung, broke my left clavicle in several places and my left shoulder blade. My helmet took a good shot when I hit the pavement (I was going about 50) and left me semi-conscious for a while, but with no permanent head damage.
I am quite certain from the rest of my condition that the helmet saved my life. (My bike-riding trauma doctors said they were sure it did.)
I wasn't able to ride last summer, but I'm back on my Kingpin this spring, wearing a new helmet.
I wouldn't even consider getting on my bike without it cinched down.
Remember, it's not just about what we're doing…
