Webmaster Note: We cap off our April salute to Victory Women with this letter from a very special Victory rider. Check out her last name, for heaven’s sake! We hope to receive photos of Sue with her Vegas 8-Ball soon, and we’ll post them ASAP. We also predict she might find her new bike is a better out-of-town touring bike than she might first imagine.
Good Afternoon,
I finally, after 10 years of riding, decided to purchase a Victory motorcycle. I had been wanting one for rather obvious reasons (see my last name).
But it wasn’t until after Arlen Ness was brought in to make the bike a “looker” that I began to take a keen interest. I had test ridden the Vegas the first year it was out but I had just purchased a Honda VTX1800 and was not interested in another bike.
[Recently] I bought a 2006 Victory Vegas 8-Ball. I plan on using it as my town “zip code” riding bike and keep the larger Honda VTX1800 as my road trip bike.
Over the next few months I will customize the 8-Ball by: lowering it, [changing the] exhaust [and adding] custom paint. I [planned to] attend the Laughlin River Run and will search through the many aftermarket vendors for other custom features.
I have been riding for 10 years averaging over 5,000 miles per year. Not bad considering we have eight months of rain a year. Generally do two road trips a year, one in the spring to the Southwest and one in the summer through the West. Whenever the weather permits we try to do several short rides in Washington a year.
Last year we rode Colorado, the year before Utah and Arizona. This summer we are planning Wyoming and Montana.
I haven’t any photos of me with the new Vegas 8-Ball because it has rained continuously since bringing it home. Will send photos when taken.
