Happy Father's Day Flashback: Tim 'Roadkill' Werder's Excellent Father-Son Tour
A scan of part of the article from the 1999 issue of Polaris PRO magazine.
Father’s Day seems like a fitting time to flash back nearly 10 years to recall a great Father-Son motorcycle adventure, and to pay tribute to the Father on that trip – who just happens to be the world’s highest-mileage Victory Rider.

Well known in the global Victory community, that mileage master is none other than Tim “Roadkill” Werder. On May 20, 2008, Roadkill rolled past the 200,000-mile point on his 1999 KYSO Blue V92C.

His bike is legendary, too, with its familiar New York license plate – TRAVLR. Roadkill and TRAVLR have been all over the country, including on a memorable vacation trip taken neatly a decade ago with a very special passenger.

Roadkill and his then-13-year-old son Tim, Jr., took an epic motorcycle vacation across the country that rolled up these impressive stats:

• 10,575 miles
• 21 states and 2 provinces
• Incredible stops at places such as: Yosemite National Park, Carlsbad Caverns, Banff National Park, Pikes Peak, Devils Tower, the Stugis Rally, all the sights of South Dakota’s Badlands and much, much more.

The trip was featured in a 1999 issue of Polaris PRO magazine. In the story headlined “The Two Tims Go Trans-Continental,” Roadkill described the journey briefly:

“Our route took us from rural Walker Valley, in upstate Ulster County, New York, southwest to Carlsbad in New Mexico, north through the Rockies to Jasper, Alberta, further west and then south to San Francisco, and then back east across the country… Much of the trip was accomplished without using interstate highways and we frequently camped in national forests and state and provincial parks.”

You can see the complete article as well as numerous photos from the trip on Roadkill’s Website. Go to “Roadkill’s Images” and look for folders that include the name “two tims” to see photos and the article.

Happy Father’s Day to Roadkill – and all Victory Riders who are fathers! – and congrats to the Victory Mileage Master on rolling past 200,000 miles.
