GORDON RIFFE Dives Deep into Distance Riding on His Ness Signature Series Vegas Jackpot
Gordon Riffe at Grand Tetons.
Gordon Riffe of Essex, Maryland, went from being a casual rider to a distance-riding enthusiast. He shared his story in a letter to the Victory Mailbag.

I wanted to send a note to the Victory Magazine to share an extraordinary experience.

After retiring from the U.S. Air Force as flyer in the C130 aircraft, I purchased a 2007 Arlen Ness Signature Series Vegas Jackpot, black with green flames. I purchased it from Barnes Motor World in Westminster, Maryland, in July of 2007. These guys care very much about the Victory name and their customers.

I had never driven on the road, only off-road bikes. The first year of owning the Ness bike I took a short trip for a week to Tellico Plains, Tennessee – Dragon Country, Rt. 29. The bike for this trip was such a pleasure to ride.

With this little bit of experience under my belt, I decided to travel Route 66. The trip in itself, just short of 7,500 miles and three weeks on the road, was amazing, and the bike was getting compliments the entire trip.

I did clean it up most evenings. I had my oil changed twice and both times this was done at Victory dealers without an appointment. I was in and out in an hour for both oil changes.

Tri-City Performance, a Victory dealer in Utah, even gave my bike a power wash. It needed it after I drove through a couple-mile swarm of grass hoppers outside of Delta, Utah. The grasshoppers were flying about a foot off of the ground. Thank goodness it was no higher, about 15 inch from the ground, the bike and my legs and boots were covered in legs, heads, wings and body parts. No paint damage or chips. Is that quality or luck?

The bike has performed perfectly from the day of purchase. The dealers, locally and on my trips, show a great appreciation for those folks who ride their products. I, too, in return, have a great appreciation for their commitment and wanted to share this experience with you. Keep up the good work.
