I just wanted to let you know that on July 27, 2007, I took my 2005 Victory Kingpin from Bentonville, Arkansas, to Rock Springs, Wyoming, a distance of 1,118 miles in less than 24 hours to earn my Iron Butt Association SaddleSore 1000 award.

The bike rode great – even had a stretch in Wyoming where I got 50 mpg running at 80 mph all the way. I was very impressed!

Worst part of the trip was traveling through Nebraska in the pouring rain, but by the time I hit the Wyoming border the dawn was breaking and the views were great.

Best part of the trip was the next day, as I continued on to the rest of my trip to Portland, Oregon, and traveled through the cliffs and buttes of Western Wyoming under a full moon. I expected to hear wolves howl at any moment, but it was just the roar of my Kingpin and me on I-80.

I arrived in Portland, Oregon, at 6 p.m. on July 28th, making the 2,048 mile trip in 48 hours.

After visiting with family for two weeks I rode the return trip at a more leisurely pace of three days over the same route.

The bike rode beautifully, and I was pleasantly surprised at how easy the ride was on it. This was my first long distance ride on the bike, but I look forward to many more.

…I just wanted to say: keep up the great work, and I look forward to trying out a Victory Vision as soon as I can.

Thanks,
– Larry D Dalton
