KEVIN DOUGLAS: Grateful Rider Says His Victory Vision Saved Him After Collision With Deer
If you live in deer country, you’re likely well aware that now, in the fall, is deer mating season, so these animals are highly mobile (and motivated) right now. That’s why it’s important to be extra-vigilant when out riding in the fall, especially around sundown and sun-up. But wait. Here is a letter from Michigan Victory Rider Kevin Douglas, who tells of his run-in with a deer that took place in the middle of summer. Sounds like we need to ride deer-aware year-round.

Hello to all my friends at Polaris Industries.

My name is Kevin Douglas and I am now the owner of my third Victory or my second Victory Vision.

I own numbered 1,175 of the first bikes built. I am currently working on getting my belt problem fixed but I do have approximately 68,000 glorious Victory miles on it.

My second was a 2008 Victory Vision, Supersteel Gray, which I rode 9,200 miles until June 15 of this year, when I t-boned a large deer at 65 mph.

The bike did not make it, but it in my honest belief, it saved – I mean saved – my life and saved me from serious injury or death.

This bike saved me to ride again.

The bike took the brunt of the impact and [the bike’s] size and weight kept me on the bike until the [sideways] momentum of the deer took [the bike] down and I tumbled down the road and ended on my feet.

I will always have the fondest memories and thanks for such a great bike and all the builders behind this bike. Thank all of you. You saved my life.

My third Victory is a 2009 Blue Ice Victory Vision. I have a hard time saying this, but I love it, and I again, thank all of you for another job extremely well done.

I know you are my friends because of the job you do so well and what you made with your hands saved my life and kept me riding to another glorious Victory.

Sincerely, thank all of you. Always keep up the good work and craftsmanship. I will always ride and appreciate your hard work.

– Kevin Douglas

Kevin, we are glad to hear the Victory Vision helped you make it through the collision, and we’re glad you’re back on another Victory Vision. Keep enjoying the ride.
