April is Women of Victory Month
April is “Women of Victory Month” here on the Victory website. We invite Victory women to submit photos of themselves with their bikes and their riding pals, along with some info such as where you’re from, what you ride, your Victory dealer, where you like to ride, etc. We’ll feature Women of Victory here all through April. Send photos and info to the Victory Mailbag.
Dear Victory,
We just wanted to write in and say Thanks!
Kevin has had a bike and his motorcycle license for over 20 years. When he married Amber he didn't have a bike at the time. Amber liked bikes – she had grown up on dirt bikes with her step-brothers – but never had the desire to own or ride a street bike.
After six years of marriage and wanting a bike again, Kevin gave Amber a Motorcycle Safety Course for their anniversary. She was reluctant at first, but went to class even though it rained both days. Then she passed her state exam and was a registered motorcycle rider. That was October 2006 and Amber had been bitten with the bug.
Over the next six months, Amber went from “Hell No! We are not getting a bike” to “We NEED a bike because I want to go riding...”
Together we test drove over 25 different bikes wanting to make sure we bought the best bike for us. We were looking for ride comfort, power, torque and price. We finally decided we wanted to buy the Harley-Davidson V-Rod.
We had visited the display of Victory Motorcycles at the International Motorcycle Show here in Houston in November of 2006. So after test driving so many bikes and not wanting to settle on our purchase we thought we'd visit one more dealership.
We called first to see if they allowed test drives and set up a date to visit. When we got there, they had all six Victory bikes in the parking lot waiting. We walked in and told Steven our salesman that we were buying a V-Rod and we were here for him to tell us why we shouldn’t. He didn’t say much, asked if we wanted to test drive the Victory bikes and we said sure.
We signed our waivers, got our helmets and took each bike out 2 by 2. We would return, switch bikes and take the same road. After each of us test drove all six bikes, Steven our salesman asked which bike we liked the best. Kevin liked the Hammer, Amber liked the Jackpot. We took both bikes out again, and upon return switched and repeated the ride. The guys at Pro Powersports of Conroe were so patient, helpful and understanding with us. Six hours later we went home without a bike. We needed to “talk it over.”
A week later we bought our bike. Amber loves being “A Girl” who rides. She enjoys showing all the old Harley riders what the New Young Fresh Face of motorcycling is all about. We bought our bike truly because it out-performed, had a newer fresher look and the dealership treated us as Customers. Not to mention that it was twice the bike and much lower priced than the V-Rod.
Enclosed is a picture of our 2007 Victory Jackpot that we purchased from Pro Powersports of Conroe. Please let us be VERY CLEAR… This is Amber’s Bike!
It’s just Kevin’s job to pay for it, clean it and make sure that it’s serviced and insured. Kevin just gets to ride it occasionally when he asks nicely… Really we love it and are looking at buying a second bike now.
Thanks Again, – Kevin and Amber Jones
P.S. We are doing all we can to promote Victory here in Houston. Help us help you! Please consider a bigger presence here, especially at the Lone Star Rally in the fall. We’d even help a little more, if needed, at your booth, by offering testimonials. Just a thought. We’d love to hear yours!
