To All Our Friends at Victory, We had the pleasure of attending the American Victory Rally at Spirit Lake this year. We can’t begin to explain what a wonderful experience this was. From the plant tour upon arrival to the taillights leaving town, it was a weekend full of fun, entertainment and some of the friendliest people we’ve ever come in contact with.
We had the misfortune of breaking a belt midway through the poker run on Saturday and we thought we were in big trouble and would be spending the rest of the weekend hunting down parts.
That was when the Victory team jumped into action.
We were lucky enough to break down just inside Mini Waken Park, where Victory team member Anthony Stecker and his daughters were manning the poker table. Anthony began making phone calls. He reached Victory team member James Jensen, who came out to the park personally to make sure everything humanly possible was done to get us back on the road again.
It sounded grim for a while, with the closest belts available being in Sioux Falls and Sioux City, and no one from the Bak Victory dealership coming to town for the rest of the weekend. We thought for sure we would have to extend our stay until Monday to wait for the next shipment of parts.
But this amazing bunch of people wouldn’t give up.
Tim Dawson was on the poker run with his ’04 Vegas. He selflessly offered to give us the belt off his bike (sounds to me like the shirt off his back) so we could get back up and running.
Luckily, another employee – we only heard him referred to as “Sheik” – had a belt hanging in his garage. So after a call from Victory’s Amy Eilers to her friend Chris Taylor (the vendor for Blue Ox), the bike was on the back of a truck and on its way to the Bak dealership’s vendor tent at Arnolds Park.
No charge for Chris’s services, by the way. Just a good old hometown boy, like everyone else, glad to help.
The whole ordeal lasted only a few hours, but it’s something that will stay fresh in our memories for years to come.
One of the other Omaha riders mentioned that now we’ll never be able to own anything but Victorys, and he was sure right. I can’t imagine any other company genuinely caring this much for its customers.
These people rewrote the book on professionalism.
Our most sincere thank yous go out to all the men and women involved in making what could have been a disaster an incredibly positive and humbling experience.
Sincerely, – Jon Frankeberger and Wanda Cullen
P.S. Would you please see to it that each person involved gets the credit due to them by the company, as well as extending our sincere gratitude.
