Popping up at Victory dealerships across the eastern half (so far) of the U.S. is the Pure Victory Polishes (PVP) transporter. Piloted by Larry Meservey, Sr., and his co-pilot, son Larry, Jr., the PVP rig is making stops at Victory dealerships from Florida to Indiana and back again.
Senior and Junior are staying plenty busy every time they put the rig in park at a dealership.
“At every stop, the Pure Victory Polishes coach and staff are there to educate, demonstrate, sell, detail bikes and install our radio sound systems,” said Senior.
They demonstrate how to clean, polish and preserve the great look of Victory Motorcycles using Pure Victory Polishes, and they work some minor miracles like removing melted rain suit material from pipes, getting boot marks off chrome and gently working in a polish that makes a paint job look better than new.
A Chilly Reception They’re also experiencing what is for them – as Daytona Beach, Florida, residents – unusually cold temperatures.
One night Senior wrote: “Here I am in Terre Haute, Indiana, and it is currently 35 degrees and going down to the mid 20's overnight,” Senior wrote in an e-mail pecked out by cold, stiff fingers. “As you know that's waaaay below my preferred temperature. I had to stop on the way here to get some extended britches; the shorts must go. I guess I'm just getting weak – that's spelled OLD.”
The PVP team expected to return home to Florida just before Thanksgiving to spend the holiday with their family, but Frosty Senior reported, “Home may be sooner than planned if the temperatures stay below oh, maybe the 50's. Will update you on my progress soon.”
Nov. 16-17 Stop at Rocket City The PVP rig is like a pinball, bouncing from one Victory dealership to the next. Senior and Junior hit town in time for a local bike night or a Victory dealer’s open house, they detail bikes, help the dealer retail polishes, install radios and hit the road like Clint Eastwood in a spaghetti Western.
So it’s hard to say exactly where they’ll stop next – except they are scheduled to spend November 16-17 “at Rocket City in Madison, Alabama, for their re-grand opening. This should be a big event and the Pure Victory Coach and staff will be there to educate, demonstrate, sell, detail bikes and install our radio sound systems. We’ll see you Victory Riders there,” Senior said.
Waldo-Like Dispatches Senior has sent the Victory Mailbag a series of communiqués from the road, some cryptic, some detailing routes and stops like a AAA Triptik. Excerpts from his travel journal include:
“I departed on this latest road trip on Friday October 26. I have since visited: • Leesburg Powersports in Leesburg, Florida • Nature Coast Motorsports in Crystal River, Florida • Polaris of Gainesville in Gainesville, Florida • Dothan Powersports in Dothan, Alabama • Distinctive Cycles in Freeport, Florida • Stokes Victory Polaris in Pensacola, Florida • America Cycle Centers in Hoover, Alabama • Rocket City in Madison, Alabama.
“This morning I am in Tuscumbia, Alabama, to visit Shoals Outdoor Sports. I will depart for Memphis, Tennessee, to see FRS Powersports, then: • JPM Performance Powersports in Hopkinsville, Kentucky • The new dealer in Nashville, Tennessee • Then Sloans Motorsports and ATV in Murfreesboro, Tennessee • Polaris of Knoxville [TN] • And Southern Powersports in Chattanooga, Tennessee.”
A Mysterious Stop at OCC HQ During the team’s initial sprint up the East Coast, this report was received:
“Here is an anonymous photo of what appears to be the Pure Victory Polishes Coach at the OCC Headquarters. You just never know where the next sighting might be. Will it be at a Victory dealership or event near you?”
Spotted in the Keystone State A dispatch from Pennsylvania reported:
“NEW SIGHTING: Hernley’s Victory Polaris in Pennsylvania. The Pure Victory Polishes rig was spotted at Hernley's open house with another professionally detailed ‘08 Victory Vision. Plus, notice how much better a freshly detailed Victory can smoke that 250 rear tire.”
Ferocious Security Force Guards Bikes The PVP team detailed all the demo and display bikes prior to Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach in October. It was around that time that this report (plus a photo in the gallery) was received:
“The Pure Victory Polishes rig was spotted again with an impressive line up of brand new and highly polished ‘08 Victory Visions. As you can clearly see, these bikes are well protected with both Pure Victory Polishes and their guard dog, Leia… The PVP is about to hit the road to preach their detailing mantra of ‘Clean, Polish & Preserve.’ It's all about the PROTECTION. The Shine is a fringe benefit.”
