Vice President Victory Motorcycles & International Operations Mark Blackwell was named one of the 2008 Industry Leaders by Powersports Business magazine. Blackwell was one of five powersports industry executives recognized by the magazine in its April 21, 2008 issue.

Blackwell is the third Polaris executive honored by the magazine in the past eight years. Polaris President Bennett Morgan was honored as one of the 2005 Industry Leaders, and Polaris CEO was recognized as an Industry Leader in 2000 and 2001 before being named Powersports Business Executive of the Year in 2002.

Blackwell was profiled in the recent issue of the magazine that is distributed to powersports dealers and industry members. The profile included his answers to three questions from the editors and an introduction that described him thusly:

“Victory Vice President Mark Blackwell helped lead Polaris Industries’ motorcycle line last year into a new segment with its first-ever luxury touring product, the [Victory] Vision. Overall, the American bike brand appears to be holding its own in terms of overall sales and market share…”

Blackwell joined Polaris in 2000 as General Manager of the Victory Motorcycles Division. In 2005, he was named Vice President, Victory Motorcycles & International Operations for Polaris.

He was inducted into the AMA Heritage Museum Hall of Fame in 2000 for his superb motocross racing career and subsequent work as Suzuki race team manager and later work as a motorcycle industry executive. Blackwell is known for being the first U.S. motocross champion as he won the 1972 AMA 500cc Motocross Championship.
