A tip of the helmet to Scott Kietzmann and Jon Smal of Conquest Customs. They have honored the late Victory Rider Sgt. Michael K. Clark with a commemorative patch that they made available free to Victory Riders.
And a tip of the helmet to Victory Motorcycle Club (VMC) members who made sure Lucas Clark, Sgt. Clark’s young son, would have a vest with the patch honoring his father. Generous VMC members contributed a leather vest with the special patch and also added patches from several regional VMC chapters to the vest.
Conquest Newsletter Sgt. Clark was also honored in the first edition of the new Conquest Customs electronic newsletter. The first issue features an article about how Sgt. Clark’s bike, the Conquest-built “GT,” was brought to his old base, Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, for a tribute attended by Lucas and his mom, Sgt. Clark’s widow Nalini.
The newsletter is free. Scott said if you create an account at the Conquest website, you’ll automatically receive the newsletter. He also noted the list of subscriber’s names will not be sold to outside parties, so it won’t generate any unwanted solicitations.
We Stand Corrected Regarding Joe Farnel Victory Rider Joe Farnel was featured the other day in the V Rider of the Month section of the VRA Page.
But the original article contained some errors about who Joe was related to. We have received correct info and updated Joe’s profile.
Gary Shelton, A True Survivor Speaking of our V Rider of the Month, be sure to check out the profile on Gary Shelton, a Touring Cruiser rider from North Carolina. Gary got tremendously busted up in an accident resulting from a medical condition, but used the carrot of riding again as motivation in his recovery.
His recovery is amazing and inspiring, but it hurts just hearing of all his injuries. Read about him HERE
And because we want to give each featured V Rider more exposure on the VRA home page, we’re not going to post a new rider each day this month as previously planned. We’ll give each rider a few days of front page exposure, then post a new rider. All rider profiles are archived in the V Rider index. To access the index, click on V RIDERS OF THE MONTH on the VRA Page.
Riding the New Bikes Selected members of the motorcycle media get their first rides on the new Victory Cross Country and Cross Roads next week. Take it from us, they’re going to love them.
They’ll experience great rides on beautiful bikes with copious storage capacity. But the editors might not mention what is perhaps the greatest benefit of these new models: value.
For the suggested retail prices, buyers of these new bikes will get extremely well-built cruisers with modern engine technology, exceptional performance, great comfort and lots of cargo space. And the styling, while it’s judged subjectively, should receive consensus praise.
No other bikes – especially no other American bikes – offer so much for such reasonable prices. Slightly-updated-but-still-tired competitive models can’t touch these Victory packages of performance and features, nor can any of the expensive boutique choppers and retro tribute bikes.
Since the editors aren’t investing in the bikes, they’re only riding them, price and value are not top of mind for them. But those factors are highly important to anybody plunking down dough for a bike. Anyone who spends their dough on a Victory Cross Country or Cross Roads will enjoy, among other things, the satisfaction of getting a great value.
You’ll read here what it’s like to ride the bikes as soon as the editors start posting their impressions of the new bikes.
