The Victory Blog: Ladies Please, Congrats Spike & Trish, and Congrats Luzzy & Kelly
Today’s newlywed Mark Luz (far right; then a Kingpin rider) is shown with some of the bad hombres he crossed the country with in 2004, en route to the Polaris 50th party. Luzzy is shown during a roadside break in Iowa corn country with convicts, ne’er-do-wells and general bad apples (l-r): Chris Accardi of New Jersey, Jeff Martini of Massachusetts and Jim Sykes of Pennsylvania.

Ladies, please! Where are you? And where are your submissions for April’s Women of Victory Month series of postings?

Sure, we met several stellar Women of Victory in Daytona during Bike Week, but we’re looking for your stories and your photos.

We plan to repeat what we did last spring and celebrate April as “Women of Victory Month” here on the Victory website. So we invite Victory women to submit photos of them with their bikes and their riding pals, along with some info such as where you’re from, what you ride, your Victory dealer, where you like to ride, etc.

We’ll feature Women of Victory in the “V Riders of the Month” slot on the VRA Page all through April. If we get an abundance of submissions – great! – we’ll keep posting them into May! But right now, friends, we’re receiving submissions at an alarmingly slow rate.

So Women of Victory, hand that digital camera to your riding buddies, have them shoot some great photos of you and your bike – whether you’re at the controls or on the passenger seat – and we’ll feature you during April.

Sending your photos and info to the Victory Mailbag’s Women of Victory Month.

Fly & Ride
You’ve heard of automakers and motorcycle manufacturers in Europe who invite American customers to fly to Europe, pick up their new vehicles, tour Europe, then have it shipped home to the U.S. Great experience, great bond with the brand.

Well, there’s a European Victory distributor who is currently making plans for a similar fly and ride here in the States. We’ll provide details and coverage once the trip approaches, but in a nutshell: the distributor and customers will fly to Minnesota, pick up a fleet of Victorys and ride to New York City, from which point they’ll fly home to Europe.

They would have picked up the bikes and toured the final assembly plant in Spirit Lake, Iowa, but the plant will be in transition at the time of their trip – converting the assembly line from producing 2008 models to the ‘09s.

We’ll keep you posted about these visitors and their riding experience on “The New American Motorcycle.”

Got a Better Name?
Speaking of the Spirit Lake production facility, can we come up with a cooler name than “Victory final assembly plant”? Got any good names for what the birthplace of every single Victory should be called?

It you’ve got game with names, send your suggestions to the Victory Mailbag.

10th Anniversary AVR
Don’t forget that the American Victory Rally will be held in Spirit Lake on August 15-16. This year’s rally will include Victory 10th anniversary celebrations, demo rides, factory tours, a Victory custom show, a Victory vendor area at Arnold’s Park and more.

There will be greatly expanded web info about the event in the coming weeks. In the meantime, you can catch the basics and remind yourself to save the date by checking out the AVR Event Listing on the VRA Page.

Congrats, Victory Couples
As noted in the headline, there are some special couples celebrating special milestones of their own today. March 24 seems to be a day of significance for Victory Riders deeply associated with the annual V2V Relay.

First off, it was 24 years ago on the 24th that Spike and Trish Durkin got married, so they’re celebrating a great anniversary. Kudos to them both for their marriage and for their great work on the V2V over the years. Spike is the Victory Godfather and VMC icon to many of us, and we salute him and Trish today.

Launching a great new phase of their lives together today are Victory Rider Mark Luz and his wife (as of 8:15 p.m. EDT) Kelly Wagner. Like Spike, Luzzy is a Victory legend with a link to the brand that goes back to the very start 10 years ago. He has been a Victory Rider Coordinator, VMC Officer and V2V Leg Captain. Now he’s a Victory Vision rider, grinning ear to ear.

Special congrats today to Luzzy and Kelly and to Spike and Trish.

We raise a toast to them and invite all Victory Riders to join us. Hey, riders, it’s 5 o’clock somewhere!
