Hero’s Highway Ride A Victory-riding friend of ours in Canada, Lou DeVuono, alerted us to the upcoming Hero's Highway Ride, which will be held Saturday, June 6, just east of the Toronto metro area.
The ride is an opportunity for everyone – motorcyclists and other motorists – “to show their support for our troops,” Lou said.
You’ll see some extremely touching newspaper photos of the highway HERE, and you can learn more about the ride event HERE.
Hwy. 401 in Ontario is known as the Highway of Heroes. The ride will run from the 10 Acre Truck Stop (Hwy. 401, Exit 538), which is east of Trenton, Ontario, to Iroquois Park in Whitby, Ontario (near Toronto), where there will fellowship, refreshments and live music.
Registration opens at 9 a.m. at the truck stop and the ride departs at 11:30 a.m. There is no fee for registration, but all participants must sign a waiver.
Donations to the Sapper Mike McTeague Wounded Warriors Fund will be gratefully accepted.
This sounds like a great event, and we hope there’s a strong turnout of Victorys among a huge group of riders paying tribute.
Victory Racers Head to the Strip Victory drag racers had planned to race in last weekend’s American Motorcycle Racing Assn. (AMRA) event at Huntsville, Alabama, but the event was rained out.
The AMRA website says the next event will be June 27-28 in Bowling Green, Kentucky.
Victory Rider Mike “Jethro” Pearce is all set to run at several AMRA events this year on his new Victory drag bike. So far, Jethro has posted a speed of about 131 mph with an ET of 10.71 on the new bike.
Here is a larger-format view of Jethro on his new bike.
Word is that Victory Rider Dave Koehmstedt (online alias: pmrt) is also planning to race on the AMRA circuit this summer.
The Victory Racers will be facing off against racers on HDs at the Beech Bend Raceway Park in Bowling Green. Go easy on ‘em, guys.
Speaking of Tractors… Tip of the helmet to The Peddler, who posted a link in the VMC forum to this YouTube video of a John Deere-painted Victory.
Do you wear leather bib overalls to ride a bike like this?
Health Update Best wishes and “Get Well Soon” to Victory Rider Mark Luz. He kept it our of the newspaper, but Luzzy had the H1N1 flu over the weekend.
We would call it the swing flu, but there’s no way Luzzy is riding a Hog.
Maybe he had the “VicVis flu,” which requires a guy to skip work and go riding for at least a day.
Alas, no such luck.
“I really just had a cold, but figured I’d say I had the swine flu for a little sympathy,” he confessed.
