Everything’s coming up green. Roseau’s high school boy’s hockey team beat ultra-arch-rival Warroad, 5-2, on Wednesday night. All is right with the world.
(Roseau is the birthplace of Polaris. The high school’s colors are green and white, thus the headline about painting the town green.)
They meet again January 29 in Warroad, about 20 miles down the road from Roseau.
Turn the Heat On If you see someone praying for an acceleration in global warming, it’s probably a snowbound Victory Vision owner like Joe Hammel of Eyota, Minnesota.
It is painful to see a gorgeous motorcycle (see the photo above) amid snow-, ice-, salt- and gravel-covered roads. Nice custom paint on that Victory Vision, Joe.
Hurry springtime!
Texans Get Rolling A tip of the helmet to Dub Perry, the Volunteer VRA Victory Ride Coordinator whose rides commonly start at Polaris West, the Victory dealership in Katy, Texas. Dub has his first Victory Ride of the new year planned for January 19, when he’ll lead the crew on a scenic ride that will put them at the Thirsty Parrot in Monaville for lunch.
Dub has Victory Rides planned to sites such as the Painted Churches of Fayette County (February) and Texas Independence Day at Washington on the Brazos (March).
Great work, Dub. You Houston-area Victory Riders are lucky to have him organizing rides.
Join the Fight Against Cancer You can help Victory and Polaris riders raise funds for the fight against cancer.
The Polaris Rider Challenge to Fight Cancer is a simple, fun, and easy way to organize a team and raise money for the American Cancer Society. Log on to Polaris Rider Challenge to Fight Cancer website to learn more and get started.
You’ll see groups that have already been formed – groups you can join or support with a donation – and you’ll learn how to form your own group to challenge other individuals and clubs to see who can raise the most money for the fight against cancer.
The second wave of this Polaris Rider Challenge to Fight Cancer runs through February 29, so check it out, join in and raise some funds for a most worthy cause.
Park ‘em We aren’t sure if Snake River Canyon-jumper and Victory V.P. Mark Blackwell was planning to take part in the Dakar Rally, but if he were, he’ll have to park his bike or head to Baja for some competition. A recently newspaper item reported:
“The Dakar Rally, the 16-day, 5,760-mile motorcycle, car and truck race across the Sahara Desert, was cancelled by organizers citing ‘direct’ threats of terrorism from al-Qaida-linked militants.”
Congrats to the Quadtrek Trio Marc Joinville and France Labonte – the Quebec residents who are riding their Polaris ATVs from Canada to Cabo San Lucas at the southernmost tip of Mexico’s Baja Peninsula – have arrived in Cabo.
This isn’t quite the end of their Quadtrek journey because they need to ride north to Arizona, where their pickup truck has been parked for them. They’ll load up the ATVs in Arizona and drive the truck home to Quebec.
Riding from British Columbia, along the Rockies to Arizona, on to Mexico, and down to the tip of Baja – they covered slightly more than 6,000 miles. To a Victory Rider, that might not sound like a lot. That’s a good week for Roadkill. But they’re been on their Quadtrek for more than six months and have been riding a lot of unforgiving terrain. They even rode a stretch of the Baja race course and couldn’t believe how brutal it was at even a leisurely pace.
The duo of Marc and France became a trio in Arizona when they adopted a puppy, Minnie, who has been riding with them and will return with them to Quebec. Let’s hope Minnie can bark in French.
Closed Circuit Paging… Closed circuit message to two Victory Riders:
