Set Your Sights on Sturgis This year’s legendary Sturgis Motorcycle Rally is scheduled for August 3-9. Victory will be there and we look forward to seeing you there. Great weather, incredible scenery, outstanding riding and superb people watching. It’s a phenomenal rally, always worth attending.
If you go to Sturgis, plan on making stops at:
• The Victory Store on Main Street in downtown Sturgis. • The Victory Demo Site just off Exit 30 of I-90, on the west side of Sturgis (demo rides are based in the parking lot of Hersrud’s Chevrolet). • Rice Victory, the Victory dealership in Rapid City.
Details about Victory activities and the schedules of the Victory Store and Demo Ride will be announced here as soon as they are confirmed.
Summer Events & the Victory Challenge Demo Tour Along with Sturgis, other summer events to add to your schedule include:
• Blackbeard’s Run on April 24-26, in Kill Devil Hills, N.C.
• The Victory Riders Route 66 Rally in the Pines, May 1-3 in Williams, Arizona.
• A Victory 10th Anniversary Ride on the Natchez Trail on May 3 from Nashville.
• The 2009 Southeast Victory Rally, June 4-7 in Helen, Georgia. (Rest assured, bail bondsmen will be on the scene.)
• The VMC National Meet, July 30-August 2, in Billings, Montana.
• The American Victory Rally, August 14-15, in Spirit Lake, Iowa.
Keep Track of Polaris Riders on Polaris ESCAPE Your Polaris-riding and -racing brethren have had a great winter of snowmobile racing and they’re off to a great start on the 2009 ATV and RANGER race circuits. You can keep track of what’s up among Polaris Riders by visiting the Polaris ESCAPE website. The site also includes Victory content, most of which is double-posted here on the VRA Page.
If you check out the Polaris ESCAPE ESCAPE News Index, and you’ll learn about:
• Polaris side-by-side (RANGER) and ATV race wins. • Snocross and cross-country snowmobile racing wins and season points titles. • Off-road (think: Baja and Dakar) race champion and NASCAR racer Robby Gordon is now working with the Polaris Off-Road Vehicles divisions. • Your chance to win a free trip to next winter’s “Polaris Assault Camp.” • And a heads-up about the Polaris participation in the Arctic Man race in Alaska.
You’ve got to read what goes on at the Arctic Man. In a nutshell, a ski racer skis down the face of a mountain, grabs a tow rope attached to a moving snowmobile, gets towed at high speeds (try 85 mph!) up a mountain slope, then races down another slope to the finish line. Meanwhile, the smart people are gathered at the base of the mountain, enjoying Alaska’s spring sunshine and well-stocked coolers.
Is Big Brother Watching? That headline is a bit strongly worded, but it refers to a recent discussion in a Victory Motorcycle Club forum. The discussion thread was started by the question: “Does anyone from Victory actually log on and respond to anyone’s comments or questions, ever give feedback to/from Victory to/from THEVMC?”
Put yourself in Victory’s shoes and consider the question again. If you were designing and building Victory motorcycles, would you visit consumer/enthusiast sites such as the VMC site, the Victory Owners’ Group website, the Victory Riders Network site or the Vision-Riders site?
Yes, you would. You would want to see what people are saying, what they’re praising or criticizing, what they’re doing to their bikes, what they’re asking about and what they want from their next Victory motorcycle.
These are great sites with a lot of fun and fascinating activity. Rest assured, Victory staffers are Victory Riders and they’re visiting these sites.
