Polaris Dominates at Otsego Club - Michigan
MEDINA, MN (December 19, 2005) – Since fog stopped the Duluth National WPSA races early on November 27th, the Tour completed them this past weekend – as part of the Michigan Snocross, held at the Otsego Club and Resort in Gaylord, Michigan. This made for a full weekend of great snowmobile racing - and victories – for Polaris riders everywhere.
Polaris Sweeps Podium In Weather-Delayed Duluth Pro Open Final For starters, Polaris racers aboard the leaner and meaner 2006 440 IQ™ Racer swept the podium in the weather-delayed Duluth Pro Open Final. D.J. Eckstrom (#25 AMSOIL / Red Bull / Polaris) took the lead in the first corner and never looked back. If that wasn’t enough, defending Semi-Pro Stock Champ Ross Martin (#837 Judnick Motorsports / Polaris) took second, and defending Pro Stock Champ T.J. Gulla (#44 TEAM Industries / Polaris) rounded out this all-Polaris podium sweep by taking third. “This is great for our sponsors and it was nice to have a Polaris sweep today,” said Eckstrom. “My team has been working very hard, trying to get ready for this event, and their hard work paid off today.”
Polaris Gets 1-2 Finish In Michigan Snocross Pro Stock Final Once the Duluth National races were wrapped, there were the weekend’s Michigan Snocross races to be tended to, and Polaris racers picked up right where they left off – on the podium. Levi LaVallee (#108 TEAM Industries / Polaris), who sat out most of last season with a knee injury, proved he was good to go by winning the Pro Stock final. LaVallee nabbed the lead from Kurtis Crapo (#9 Arctic Cat) and went on to victory – with Carl Schubitzke (#96 AMSOIL / Red Bull / Polaris) finishing a close second. “I feel a lot better after coming back from last year,” said LaVallee. “I knew I could make it back – and with a sled as capable as the 440 IQ, it made it all that much easier.”
Team Polaris Nabs Another Winter X Games 10 Spot Finally, defending Semi-Pro Stock Champ Ross Martin (#837 Judnick Motorsports / Polaris) won his X Games invitational event – securing him a coveted ticket to Winter X Games 10, set to take place Jan 28-31 in Aspen Colorado.
Martin joins a number of other Polaris racers who already qualified for the prestigious Winter X Games 10 including defending Pro Stock titleholder T.J. Gulla (#44 TEAM Industries / Polaris), Brett Bender (#19 TEAM Industries / Polaris), Dennis Eckstrom (#25 AMSOIL/Red Bull / Polaris), Mike Schultz (#5 Avalanche Racing / Polaris) and Levi LaValle (#108 TEAM Industries / Polaris)
“What a weekend!” said Polaris Racing Manager Tom Rager Sr. “The entire team worked hard and that showed in the results.” He added, “The Polaris sleds are running great – and the crews – all of them – are incredible – they’re giving the kids Polaris sleds that are helping them win races. It’s a long season and we’ll continue to stay focused – doing our best to take care of business one race at a time.”
Polaris Winning Performance on the Track Benefits Polaris Riders on the Trail In 2006, those who choose to ride Polaris will be winners as well - in more ways than one. Case-in-point; The powerful Liberty 600 HO engine that is found in several 2006 Polaris production models is based on the same mechanical magic that makes the Liberty 440 engine so dominant on the track.
But the benefits don’t stop there: The technology behind the track-inspired IQ chassis that carried Polaris Racers to the podium this past weekend is also standard equipment on several ‘06 models. These include the class-leading 600 HO Fusion; turbo-charged FST Switchback and deep snow king 900 RMK.
