WPSA Nielsen Grand Finale

#108 Levi LaVallee (TEAM Industries Racing) qualified #1 for the Pro Open final with a win in all three of his qualifying heats. He would go on to take 3rd in the final.

Results

In the Pro Stock final, Matt Judnick (Judnick Motorsports/DuPont) was the #3 qualifier with Mike Schultz (Avalanche Racing) qualifying 6th and TJ Gulla (TEAM Industries Racing) 10th. Levi LaVallee (TEAM Industries Racing) , DJ Eckstrom (AMSOIL/Red Bull/US Air Force), Justin Tate (Hentges Racing) and Ross Martin (Judnick Motorsports/DuPont) came through the last chance qualifier. When the green flag went up Mike Schultz got a great start and was in 3rd place after the first lap. LaVallee was back in 7th with Judnick, Tate, and Gulla in tow. Ross Martin did not have the final he wanted and was last after the first lap. Levi fought a tough race and while he just missed the podium he did finish in 4th place with Schultz in 6th, Judnick in 7th, Tate 8th and Ross Martin 9th. Gulla and Eckstrom finished 11th and 12th respectively. In a hard fought battle in the points chase, Ross Martin finished in 2nd place his rookie season.

Levi LaVallee has been “on” as of late. Pro Open qualifying at Lake Geneva was no exception as he won all three of his qualifying heats making him the #1 qualifier going into the final. TJ Gulla qualified 3rd while DJ Eckstrom qualified 4th, Mike Schultz 5th. Ross Martin would again have to come in through the last chance qualifier as did teammate Matt Judnick. On the start of the 14 lap final, LaVallee got another great launch off the line and was in 3rd on the first lap behind Steve Martin and Aaron Christensen. At the checkered flag the top three did not change so LaVallee went on to the podium with a 3rd place finish. Mike Schultz finished 6th, TJ Gulla 8th, DJ Eckstrom 9th, Matt Judnick 12th and Ross Martin with another mechanical finished 15th. Again Ross Martin took 2nd overall in the season points chase in Pro Open as a rookie. Martin also won WPSA Pro Rookie of the Year. DJ Eckstrom was 3rd overall in Pro Open points. Congratulations to both riders.

Brett Bender (TEAM Industries Racing) made a trip to the podium with his 2nd finish in the Semi-Pro Open final. In Semi-Pro Stock Bobby LePage almost grabbed his first podium of the year but finished 4th in the Semi-Pro Stock final. Bobby as you may recall, was very seriously injured last year at Canterbury and did not come back to racing until late January. Bobby’s recovery has been nothing short of miraculous.

In the Sport Open class Mike Bell (Avalanche Racing) won the final with Robert Graeber (Boss Racing) placing 3rd. Mike Bell also took 2nd in the Sport Stock final.

Another season has come and gone. We hope to see you all next season at Duluth Thanksgiving weekend. Have a save and enjoyable off season.
