WPSA Eagle River SnoCross National
Results
Polaris racers nabbed seven out of twelve Pro podium spots at the WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour’s Eagle River Sno-Cross National double header event this past weekend. In round one Levi LaVallee (#108 Hentges Racing/Pirtek) and TJ Gulla (#44 Hentges Racing/Pirtek) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively in the first of two Pro Stock finals this past weekend. Ross Martin finished 6th, with Mike Schultz finishing 10th.
In the first Pro Open final, Mike Schultz (#5 Avalanche Racing) made a trip to the podium after finishing in 3rd place. Levi LaVallee finished 4th, Ross Martin finished 6th, Shaun Crapo (#3 AMSOIL/ Red Bull/ US Air Force) 7th, TJ Gulla 9th and DJ Eckstrom (#25 AMSOIL/Red Bull/US Air Force) 10th.
The second Pro Stock final of the weekend saw TJ Gulla as the #1 qualifier going to the final. His momentum continued as he shot off the line right behind Steve Martin and by lap two was in the lead. Gulla held his lead for the remaining 12 laps to take the checkered flag in first place. Joining him at the podium was Mike Schultz finishing 2nd. Levi LaVallee finished 5th, Ross Martin 8th, DJ Eckstrom 9th and Willie Elam (#130 Rocky Mountain Racing) 10th. Gulla takes over the Pro Stock points lead going into Round seven of the WPSA PowerSports Tour. The top five in points with three races remaining are as follows:

In the second Pro Open final of the double header weekend Ross Martin took command of the race first by qualifying #1 and by taking the lead from the start and never looking back, winning at the checkered flag. Levi LaVallee finished 2nd, Mike Schultz 4th, DJ Eckstrom 6th, TJ Gulla 8th, Shaun Crapo 10th. Ross Martin still holds onto the lead in Pro Open points. The top five in points with three races remaining are as follows:

In Semi-Pro action, Chris Kafka (#991 Hentges Racing/Pirtek), who has been on a tear the past few weeks, grabbed another win in Semi-Pro Open. Bobby LePage (#244 Hentges Racing/Pirtek) rode a great race as well with a 4th place finish. Andrew Johnstad (#255 Avalanche Racing) finished in 4th place in Semi-Pro Stock. Johnstad sits in 3rd in points only 18 points back from the leader Dan Ebert. Johnstad is 2nd in Semi-Pro Stock points 28 points in back of Dan Ebert.
In Sport Stock Matt Bristow (#113 Bristow’s Racing) won the Sport Stock final. Rylie Hogue (#432 Rocky Mountain Racing) won the Sport Open final with Joseph Fallen (#127 Polaris) making a trip to the podium as well in 3rd place.
Delene Dippel (#102) and Deidra Dippel (#105) placed 3rd and 5th respectively in the Pro Women’s final. Kristen Leirmoe (#89 Polaris) won the Women’s Stock class with Kendra Daniel (#186 Polaris) in 2nd. Taylor Achterberg (#6 Polaris) finished 4th with #933 Heather Warga finishing 5th.
James Johnstad (#154 Avalanche Racing) won the Jr. 10-13 final handily aboard his Polaris. Derek Peterson finished 3rd in the Jr. 14-15 final with #221 Brian Ludwig in 4th. In Jr. 16-17 #149 Mitch Henry was 3rd and #122 Derek Peterson 5th in their final. Dylan Jansen #272 won the Champ 120 final.
The next stop on the WPSA PowerSports Snowmobile Tour is March 2-4, 2007 at Canterbury Downs in Shakopee, MN. This is another double header event with Pro racing all three days. Rounds 7 & 8 will take place at the famous Eagle River Derby Track in Eagle River, WI. This event is a double header where two separate race events will take place. Round 7 will race to completion with finals on Saturday and Round 8 will race a complete event with finals on Sunday. Each event is counted separately for points.
Not only will all the top Sno-cross racers compete here but they will race two separate rounds which is a win-win for the fans. This is a new stop on the WPSA Snowmobile Tour and promises to be a very exciting event.
