Results

Ross Martin (#837 Judnick Motorsports/DuPont/ Polaris) picked up where he left off last season. While only finishing 4th and 3rd in his first two rounds in Pro Stock qualifying, he came out for the third round and won. Martin then went on to win the Pro Stock final with Mike Schultz (#5 Avalanche Racing/Parts Unlimited/Polaris) finishing an impressive 2nd nabbing his second Pro podium of his career. Ross Martin leads in the Pro Stock points with 60 points with Schultz right behind him in 2nd place with 56 points. He is tied with Garth Kaufman who also has 56 points. Not far behind in fourth is Blair Morgan with 53 points.

In Pro Open Ross Martin’s confidence was well in place as he won all three rounds and was the #1 qualifier going to the final. TJ Gulla (#44 Hentges Racing/Pirtek/Polaris) was the #4 qualifier going to the final. Levi LaVallee (#108 Hentges Racing/Pirtek/Polaris) was the #10 qualifier in the final. When the green flag was up, Martin shot off the line and took the lead never looking back. Meanwhile LaVallee also getting a great launch was second off the line behind Martin. LaVallee and Karl Allard battled between 2nd and 3th but in the end Martin took the win with LaVallee finishing 2nd. Gulla finished in 4th place. Martin leads the Pro Open points chase with 65 points with TJ Gulla in 2nd with 56 points tied with Garth Kaufman who is in 3rd. LaVallee is in 4th just one point behind both Gulla and Kaufman.

Shaun Crapo (#3 AMSOIL/Red Bull/US Air Force) was very impressive in the X-Games Qualifiers as he qualified in the #1 spot for Final #1. Ross Martin was also impressive ending up the #2 qualifier in final #1 with TJ Gulla the #3 qualifier going to the final. Martin had to work his way up from a start that him in 7th place. Gulla came off the line in 4th and remained there until Martin passed him on the last lap. The top five finishers qualified to go to the Winter X-Games with Martin and Gulla both making the cut. In X-Games final #2 Brett Bender was the #3 qualifier in the final. Bender finished in 4th place giving him a spot in the Winter X-Games. Levi LaVallee was chosen by ESPN to participate in the X-Games and did not have to qualify. Mike Schultz had qualified last April when he won the Icelandic X-Games qualifier.

Kylie Abrahamson (#87 Abe Racing/Polaris) tied as the #1 qualifier for the Pro Women’s final. Kylie then went on to win the Pro Women final. Abrahamson was followed by these Polaris racers: Delene Dippel (Dippel Precision Racing) in eighth, Jennifer Pare in 10th, Ashley Parliament (Par Motorsports) in 11th and Deidra Dippel (Dippel Precision Racing) in 15th. Kylie leads in the Pro Women points by four with 44 points.

In Semi-Pro action, Brett Bender (#19 Hentges Racing) was the #1 qualifier in Semi-Pro Open and #4 qualifier in Semi-Pro Stock. Andrew Johnstad qualified 3rd in the Semi-Pro Stock final. In the Semi-Pro Stock final, Andrew Johnstad got the holeshot and lead. Bender passed Johnstad on lap three. They held those positions until the checkered flag with Bender taking the win and Johnstad 2nd. Chris Kafka (Hentges racing) came in fifth and Brett Abrahamson was 12th. Bender has 55 points in Semi-Pro Open leading over Dan Ebert who has 50 points. In Semi-Pro Stock Brett Bender (54 points) has a three point lead over Andrew Johnstad (51 points).

In Semi-Pro Open it was Brett Bender all the way. He got the lead off of the start and never looked back taking the win with Johnstad finishing 4th.

In the Sport classes, Matthew Bristow (#113 Bristow’s Polaris) won the Sport Open class with Derek Ellis (#106 Rocky Mountain Racing) finishing 2nd. Bristow also finished 5th in Sport Stock. Seth Houkom placed 3rd in the Sport Stock Final. David Joanis (#115 Royal Distributing/Bourque Auto & Polaris) won the Jr. 14-15 final and took 3rd in the Jr. 16-17 final.

Event Description

Duluth is the season opener for the World PowerSports Association (WPSA) National SnowmobileTour. It is a three day event with exciting racing on each day. The first round of X-Game qualifiers takes place here.

Last season at this race Polaris swept the podium in Pro Open with DJ Eckstrom taking the win, Rookie, Ross Martin finishing 2nd and TJ Gulla in 3rd. Polaris will be looking for a repeat this year in Pro Open and a win in Pro Stock.
