Minnesota Governor Experiences Polaris Performance & Style
Gov. Pawlenty wrote a note asking young Derek Lemke’s teachers to excuse him for missing class so he could participate in the Governor’s Snowmobile Ride.
Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty isn’t normally a flashy person, but he stood out as a style leader as he rode a Polaris 600 H.O. IQ during the annual Governor’s Snowmobile Ride in mid-February in Mahnomen, Minnesota.

The hood of Pawlenty’s sled was Nuclear Sunset, an eye-catching new color that will be available on select 2007 Polaris models. That meant the governor was riding a snowmobile loaded with style and performance as he enjoyed the 600 H.O. engine’s power and the smooth, easy-handling ride of the IQ chassis.

Pawlenty was joined on the trails by Polaris CEO Tom Tiller, Corporate Communications Manager Marlys Knutson, members of the Polaris events team and about 300 avid snowmobilers. Most of the riders were in Mahnomen to attend the Winter Rendezvous of MnUSA (Minnesota United Snowmobilers Assn.), the state snowmobile association. The Rendezvous is MnUSA’s annual weekend of meetings and workshops for active snowmobile volunteers and club officials from around the state.

The annual Governor’s Snowmobile Ride gives snowmobilers and Minnesota-based snowmobile manufacturers such as Polaris the opportunity to share their sport with the state’s chief executive. Pawlenty, like several governors before him, went trail riding during the event and spent time with riders discussing topics such as trail programs, trail funding and snowmobile tourism in the state.

He also talked about the incredible performance of the Polaris snowmobile he rode. Pawlenty is an avid ATV and snowmobile rider, and when he rides, he leads or rides right near the front of the pack. He is regarded as a strong supporter of Polaris, and in 2005 he helped the company celebrate the grand opening of the Polaris Product Development Center in Wyoming, Minnesota.
