My name is Sean Hood and I am the Survey Manager for Universal Ensco Inc. in Houston, Texas.
We are a Pipeline Surveying & Engineering Company and have a fleet of 52 Polaris RANGER 500 4x4s scattered throughout various parts of the United States, ranging in model years from 2002 to 2007.
The RANGER increases our speed of productivity dramatically and that impresses our clients. Without the Polaris RANGER, our crews would still be hiking it in and out on foot, carrying all their equipment on their backs and only getting about a third of the progress that the RANGER allows them to achieve now.
We would not even consider any other brand of utility vehicle simply because nothing else out there will do what we need it to do and hold up to the abuse of day to day operation that our crews put these machines through.
All 52 of our RANGERs are constantly running six days a week, 10 and 12 hours a day up and down the pipeline right-of-ways, slamming through mud holes, running over pipe skids and just about everything else these pipelines throw at us. The RANGER just shrugs it off like it’s nothing.
My crews sure appreciate the Polaris RANGER and value them with their lives. The only complaint I have is that most of my crews now are 4-man crews and the RANGER will only seat three. We have one Kawasaki Trans Mule in the fleet and I just don’t want to buy anymore of these rough-riding, slow and underpowered machines. Polaris, please come out with a RANGER that will carry four men.
[Update: Sean visited the Polaris website after the new 2008 models were introduced and saw the new 6-person RANGER CREW. His comments: “Well, now that I have had time to look over your website, I see that Polaris has come out with a RANGER that will seat six people. Way to go! We will be in the market for a few of these in the very near future.”]
The photos are of a training class we had in Ruston, Louisiana, as part of our standard RANGER ATV Safety Training we provide to all employees before they start on a job where RANGERs are used.
Thanks again Polaris for a great product!
