Polaris has signed Mafia Industries is its newest factory sponsored RANGER RZR race team. The partnership puts one of the industry leaders in short-course racing in the driver’s seat of the hottest high-performance side-by-side on the market.
“We are excited to add Mafia Industries to our growing list of factory sponsored race teams,” said Craig Scanlon, Product Line Sales Manager for the Polaris Side by Side Division. “The RANGER RZR’s power, performance and responsiveness, coupled with Mafia’s racing and technical expertise, will guarantee success on the short course.”
Team Mafia consists of three racers and a complete support staff which includes:
Team Owner/Manager: Jeff Smith
Driver 1: Chad "Rockstar" Mittag, who has been riding most of his life and is the only person to clear the 70-foot triple at Lake Elsinore, California.
Driver 2: Travis "Pinky" Peterson, who was Team Mafia’s first driver and very influential in getting short track racing started. Driver 3: Corey "T-Rex" Macomber, the newest member of Team Mafia and a former pro motocross rider.
Team Support: Owner Jeff Smith, Nik Gerdel, Doug Mittag, Sal Marchese, Jerrod Hovis, Doug Hovis, Joe Clark, Rod Swaney and Dave Heine.
“Polaris getting involved in UTV racing is huge for the industry,” said Jeff Smith, Owner/Manager of Team Mafia. “We are very excited to be a part of Team Polaris. The RZRs are the best side by sides on the market and we can’t wait to hit the track with them.”
Team Mafia will race its short course-modified RANGER RZR in the CORR Racing Series beginning with the Antelope Valley race on September 15-16.
About Mafia Industries
Mafia Industries is part of Demon Fabrication, Inc. Mafia has been in business for five years and got its start building long-travel sand cars before jumping into the UTV market about two years ago. Jeff Smith started the business and Chad Mittag joined as Shop Manager and Lead Fabricator. About three years ago, Sal Marchese joined Mafia as Office Manager. In the past two years, Jeff, Chad and Sal have built one of the best UTV shops in the country. Along with Travis Peterson, they founded the short course racing circuit at Lake Elsinore MX Park and the sport is now catching on all over the country.
