M&M Lawn & Leisure, the Polaris dealer in Rushford, Minnesota, has provided Sportsman ATVs and RANGER side by side vehicles to help with rescue, recovery and relief efforts in the wake of recent flooding in Southeastern Minnesota.
Seven Minnesota counties have been listed on a government disaster declaration, meaning they suffered extreme damage as a result of August 19 rains that caused extensive flooding. Some towns in this part of the state received 17 inches of rain in less than 24 hours.
“Southeast Minnesota has been devastated by the recent flooding,” said Mike Burns, owner of M&M Lawn & Leisure. “As a local business and also a victim of the floods, I knew the best way I could help with the rescue efforts was providing these units.”
M&M Lawn & Leisure has provided more than seven ATVs and 19 Polaris RANGERs to immediately to aid in the effort. For several days following the massive rainfalls, the Polaris vehicles were the only ones permitted to enter the flooded town of Rushford, Minn.
Because of the disaster declaration, residents and municipalities will now qualify for federal and state relief funding. An estimated 1,500 homes were damaged by flooding in Southeastern Minnesota, and the storms and subsequent flooding caused an estimated $67 million in property damage.
While parts of the state of Minnesota have endured a drought-like summer of little rainfall, the month of August has been the wettest August on record in terms of rainfall in several parts of the state, including the Twin Cities metro area.
