Doug Eichner Maintains Points Lead in WORCS Side by Side Race Class

The Polaris/Lone Star/Eichner Racing Team enjoyed a warm Easter weekend and an awesome team performance at WORCS Round 3, held March 21-23, 2008, at Lake Havasu, Arizona.

Team leader Doug Eichner earned two Pro wins, including his first in Pro Production.

In the 24-racer Pro main, Eichner launched his Polaris Outlaw 525 S off the start and grabbed the holeshot. He ran hard and strong all the way, taking the win on his wicked-fast Outlaw 525 S, which is equipped with FOX Racing Shox, enhanced performance from Yoshimura R&D of America Inc. and tires by MAXXIS.

Pro team rider John Shafe got off to a strong start on his Polaris Outlaw 450 MXR, and Eichner and Shafe were running 1-2 for a period. But Shafe, who had been under the weather the night before the race, finally succumbed to his weakened state and finished seventh.

Baker Wins in Women’s Class
Angela Baker solidified her position as the leading woman ATV racer on the dirt today with a victory in the Women's A class on her Outlaw 450 MXR. She currently holds the class points lead. Butler also took on the challenge of racing in the Pro-Am division and finished seventh out of 21 entries.

In the 8-15-year-old Youth class, 10-year-old four-time National Champion Caide Hunt rode her Outlaw 90 MXR with stock motor and suspension to a sixth-place finish, crossing the line ahead of 21 competitors. She also finished seventh in the 71-90cc Mod class, where 18 racers competed. The Polaris/Lone Star/Eichner Racing Team is eager to get Hunt on true Mod equipment for WORCS Round 4.

“Polaris is very excited about the performance of the team this WORCS round,” said Polaris Racing Team Manager Eric Nault. “Eichner’s two Pro wins and Butler’s continuing domination of the Women’s class further proves the Outlaws’ prowess on the track.”

Side By Side Racing
A record number of side by sides – 19 – entered the Rhino Mod class at Havasu. Eichner and his co-pilot, Polaris Engineer Kevin McNutt, put on a great side by side demonstration and had their Polaris RANGER RZR in the lead for most of the 45-minute race. On the final lap, another competitor’s vehicle blocked their path, holding the Eichner team up and forcing them to settle for a fourth-place finish.

That was good enough for Eichner to retain the points lead in the WORCS Rhino Mod SxS division.

Eichner's Polaris RANGER RZR sports FOX Racing Shox, arms and bumpers and roll cage by Lone Star Racing, a Yoshimura exhaust system, Fullbore Innovations body with seats, and harness and nets by MasterCraft.

"Eichner sure impressed me," McNutt said, who was smiling long after the race.

"I'm thrilled to have put the Outlaw back on top of the Pro podium at WORCS," Eichner said. “But it is the team effort and personal contributions of each team member, sponsor support and Polaris Engineering team, that are the most commendable part of the weekend. And I can't thank WORCS enough for putting on a top-notch national competition."
