Polaris side by sides were out in full force for the first-ever GNCC Side by Side race and Polaris racers won two premier classes at the recent GNCC Ironman event. The event was held October 25-26 in Crawfordsville, Indiana.
Dana Creech of Eureka, California, won the UTV Modified 701cc+ class and Mike Hajec of Auburn, Ohio, won the UTV Limited 701cc+ with the RANGER RZR.
The race was dominated by RANGER side by sides in terms of both entry numbers and results. It was a true test of the side by sides’ power and endurance as they competed on a course that included a water crossing, gnarly hill climb, twisty tight trails and full-out straight-aways.
When the contest was over, five out of the six machines that went the most laps were RANGER RZRs.
Plus, a new Polaris RANGER CREW debuted with a six-man team in tow in the UTV Limited 700cc class. The RANGER CREW was entered for fun and although not race-bred, it did run the full course without taking the easy routes.
Polaris racers and their finishes in the UTV Limited 701cc+ class were:
1. Mike Hajec, Auburn, OH, 13 laps 2. Jackie Steele, Ladogain, OH, 13 3. Dave Ecker, Branchville, NJ, 13 4. Ken Niccum, Kingman, IN, 12 5. Bryan Baker, Knob Noster, MO, 11 6. George Luton, Annapolis, MD, 11 9. Drew Wilson, Kingman, IN, 6 11. Tim Rentz, Cuyahoga Falls, OH, 1
