Polaris/Lonestar/Eichner Racing star Doug Eichner shrugged off brutal daytime temperatures and maintained his cool en route to winning the Open Pro class in ITP QuadCross Series action September 20 at Arizona Speedworld in Wittman, Arizona, just northwest of Phoenix.
It was Round 7 of the ITP schedule, and the victory kept Eichner in the lead in Open Pro points for the season.
The air temperatures were over 100 degrees during the day– and it would have been considerably warmer for racers in their gear and helmets – which made for grueling practice sessions. The mains, though, were held under the beautiful night sky, which offered a perfect backdrop for Eichner and his impressive Outlaw 525 S.
On that warm but bearable evening, Eichner launched his Polaris Outlaw 525 S out of the starting gate and grabbed the holeshot in both Motos – and he never looked back. With his smooth riding style, the performance looked effortless as he took the checkered flag win in both Motos to claim the Open Pro win.
Eichner is gunning for the points title as he holds the lead with two rounds remaining on the ITP QuadCross Series schedule: October 19 in Riverside, California, and November 30 at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California.
