Polaris ATV racer Doug Eichner won the two-hour Soboba Grand Prix on Sunday, February 9-10, on his Polaris Outlaw 525 S.
The event was held on the Soboba Indian Reservation near San Jacinto, California.
“I really enjoy Grand Prix-style competition as it provides unique challenges for both riders and machines,” said Eichner. “This is my second time racing at Soboba and my second win. With the level of competition this year and competing with the new and impressive Outlaw 525 S, it made the victory even more satisfying.”
Ever the gracious winner, Eichner credited his team for their excellent prep work.
“I want to express my deepest appreciation to my mechanic, Scott Butler, and the crew from Lone Star Racing and Yoshimura who provided the essential support that helped to capture this notable win for our team,” he said.
Eichner took the holeshot and held about a five-bike lead into the first turn, then went on to win the race by a large margin. His Yoshimura-built KTM engine ran beautifully and the FOX Racing Shox suspension handled the rough terrain with ease.
The event is hosted annually by the Soboba Indians, who attracted a large racer turn-out, including 30 racers in the Pro class.
