Polaris ATV Racing Teams Divide and Conquer at AMA and GNCC Events
Landon Hurst
Landon Hurst of Polaris/Rath/Duro Earns Two Top 10 Finishes

The Polaris/Rath/Duro Team splits its racers and resources and competed in two events in two states on a recent weekend, and the Polaris-mounted racers enjoyed success in both locations.

Landon Hurst of Laton, California, competed on April 30 at the AMA’s Sunset Ridge National in Walnut, Illinois.

In the Pro-Am Production class, Hurst finished eighth and 10th in the two motos to earn a ninth place overall finish and earn 12 points on his aboard Polaris Outlaw MXR. He is now 13th in class points.

In Pro-Am Unlimited, Hurst finished fifth and eighth in the two motos to finish eighth overall and earn 13 points, which puts him in a tie for 21st in points. He has only run one time in the Pro-Am Unlimited class this season.

“I came here this weekend with goals for myself, my team and my sponsors,” Hurst said. “I wanted to get out of the gate clean and push toward the front. I was able to accomplish those goals because my Outlaw is performing better than ever and the results prove that. I am planning to work extremely hard over the next few weeks as I prepare for Round 6, which will be at the Steel City MX, on May 23.”

Hurst had qualified for the Pro Am Unlimited class by taking a fifth place finish in his preliminary heat to secure a place in the main event along with a full gate of 20. This class has some serious talent that is destined to be the future Pro class of the sport.

The next race on the AMA schedule will be May 23-24 in Delmont, Pennsylvania.

Rath Finishes Third in the Tennessee Mud, is Third in Points

Racing at the GNCC’s “Weekend Warrior Titan” on May 2-3 in Lafayette, Tennessee, the balance of the Polaris/Rath/Duro team encountered heavy rains that turned the track into speed-robbing mud.

Daryl Rath, Frank Batista and Cody Anderson prepared their Sportsman 850XPs with Power Steering for some serious mud and water.

In the 4x4 Open class, Rath ran strong, overcame a flat tire and finished third, just 35 seconds out of second place. That strong run put him third in class points after six rounds of racing.

“I talked with the team and we decided to focus on riding the track as fast as we could in the conditions,” Rath said. “We knew how important it is just to survive and finish in a mud race.”

Batista experienced mechanical issues and had to settle for a ninth-place finish in 4x4 Open. He is currently fifth in points.

In 4x4 Limited, Anderson finished fifth. He is third in class points.

John Gallagher continued his strong, consistent season in Super Senior (50+) as he finished second in the mud. He now has two seconds, two third and two fourths, and is in second in class points.

In 4x4 Lites, Daniel Storm finished third, putting him in sixth place in points.

George Luton finished seventh in the 30+ C class. Luton is 15th in points. Nicholas Luton did not finish the Lafayette race, but is still fifth in points.

In XC2 Pro-Am, Jeremy Rice finished sixth.

Joey Margueria finished 10th in XC2 Pro-Am.

The next race on the GNCC circuit will be May 16-17 in Somerset, Pennsylvania.
