Georgia Polaris Dealers Raise Funds to Send Kids to Victory Junction Gang Camp

Atlanta-area Polaris dealerships and their customers teamed up with the Victory Junction Gang Camp during a NASCAR NEXTEL Cup racing weekend in Atlanta to raise awareness and money for the camp that hosts children with chronic illnesses.

The Polaris dealers raised money for the camp in the weeks leading up to the March 20 race at Atlanta Motor Speedway. The race was postponed by rain on its original date, March 19, which is when the dealers, their customers and race fans got to meet Kyle at the Polaris display outside the racetrack.

Kyle conducted a question-and-answer session with fans at the Polaris display that Sunday morning, then received a Polaris RANGER utility vehicle for Victory Junction, along with a commitment of a total of eight RANGERs for the camp's use. Kyle also received a check for $10,000 for the camp from the Chick-fil-A restaurant of Perry, Georgia.

Polaris & Victory: Long-Time Camp Supporters
Chick-fil-A is the main sponsor of the Kyle Petty Charity Ride, which crosses the country each summer to raise funds for the camp and other children’s causes. The Victory Motorcycles division of Polaris has long been a major supporter of the ride and the camp, and Victory is the official motorcycle of the charity ride. Plus, Kyle is the proud owner of several Victory Motorcycles.

"Polaris is incredibly proud of our growing relationship with the Victory Junction Gang Camp," said Polaris Corporate Marketing Manager Adam Sutner. "For more than 50 years, we've been passionate about building products that enhance peoples’ lives. The Atlanta-area Polaris dealerships' contribution to the camp is a great demonstration of that passion by helping enhance the experience of the kids of the Victory Junction Gang Camp."

Event Proves to Be a Success
Goals for this first-time event were modest. The dealers and the camp administration hoped to raise awareness about the camp and collect enough money to send two kids to camp.

“Teaming up with Polaris was a huge success,” said Jennifer Wade, the camp’s Director of Partnership Development. “We not only raised awareness, but $7,500 in donations during the weekend in Atlanta. We could not be more appreciative for the support Polaris provides Victory Junction.”

Tens of thousands of fans stopped by the Polaris display to make donations to Victory Junction.

“It is my pleasure as a Chick-fil-A owner to be associated with the Chick-fil-A Kyle Petty Charity Ride Across America because I'm a motorcycle enthusiast, but mostly because our corporate purpose is to have a positive influence on everyone who comes in contact with Chick-fil-A,” said David Grossnickle of Chick-fil-A. “We're able to do that by supporting Victory Junction and the charity ride.”

About the Victory Junction Gang Camp
The camp for children with chronic illnesses was founded by Kyle and his wife Pattie in memory of their late son Adam, who was deeply involved in working with children and charities before his death in a racing accident.

The 72-acre camp, which opened in 2004, is located in Randleman, North Carolina. Children ages 7-15 attend the camp free of charge year-round and have the times of their lives, enjoying activities that include fishing in the camp’s pond, horseback riding, swimming, crafts, staging musical and theatrical productions and much more.

Each summer, children suffering from medical conditions including heart, lung and kidney disease, spina bifida, HIV, cancer, burn survivors, neurological disorders, and a host of others, gather to enjoy a rich camp experience.

The Victory Junction Gang Camp is a member of the Association of Hole in the Wall Gang Camps and is free to children and their families. The camp’s operation is funded exclusively through donations of individuals, corporations and foundations. For more information, visit www.victoryjunction.org.
