All Proceeds Benefit Families Affected by the Fort Hood Tragedy
MEDINA, Minn. (Dec. 4, 2009) – Victory Motorcycles announced today that it will auction two motorcycles to benefit families and soldiers impacted by the Fort Hood tragedy. A custom Victory Kingpin 8-Ball and a Victory Hammer S were designed in honor of the men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces and donated in response to the tragic events of a month ago.
“We certainly appreciate the freedom to ride though this wonderful country, and that freedom comes with a price,” said Mark Blackwell, vice president of motorcycles. “We at Victory Motorcycles and Polaris Industries are proud to support those who have made the greatest commitment to this country, and we thank them for their dedicated service. It was a unique experience to build these two American motorcycles that represent the freedom, quality and lifestyle of our country that our Armed Forces protect each day.”
Victory Motorcycles’ Industrial Design Team outfitted the Victory Kingpin 8-Ball and the Victory Hammer S in military schemes that honor current and veteran American heroes. The Victory Kingpin 8-Ball was painted in the traditional olive drab and features markings reminiscent of past decades. The Victory Hammer S features a design scheme that reflects the modern military.
The auction is another component of Victory’s Full Throttle Salute, a program that offers enlisted and former military men a women the opportunity to purchase a new Victory motorcycle at a reduced cost.
“We know that a pretty significant number of our Victory owners are current or former military personnel,” said Blackwell. “We receive letters and communications from many of them and so we were very proud to recently announce a program to offer our support and say ‘Thank You’ to the men and women of the US Armed Forces.”
The eBay charity auction will culminate, appropriately, on Memorial Day of 2010. Bidding for the bikes will start at $10,000. For images of the customized bikes and more details about the auction next spring please visit: www.victorysalute.com.
