Among the reasons consumers are choosing RANGER TM is its redesigned cargo system. The cargo box has a 750 pound capacity and is big enough to carry a standard pallet. RANGER TM owners enjoy hundreds of ways to secure their loads using the RANGER TM’s multiple D-rings inside, tie-down points outside and 1 1/4-inch thru-hole mounting points around the entire box. Drain holes, a pickup-style tailgate and self-cleaning hinge make the RANGER TM ideal for dumping loose material. A full range of PURE Polaris accessories sell alongside the RANGER and attach in less than ten seconds to carry gear, equipment and fuel.
With or without cargo, the RANGER TM delivers incomparable off-road comfort and abilities for a 2WD vehicle. To absorb the deep ruts of farm fields, the hidden rocks in pastures and rough terrain, the RANGER TM uses long-travel 4.6-inch dual coil-over shock rear swing-arm suspension. Its MacPherson strut front and independent rear suspension provide a smooth ride and keep the vehicle well above ground with a best-in-class clearance of 7.2 inches.
Because it comes standard with a lockable rear differential, the RANGER TM is adapted to go easy on turf. By simply moving a lever mounted on the dash, the driver can engage this system for rough terrain and then disengage for turf-friendly use.
The 18 horsepower engine is the heart of the RANGER TM. It is a hi-torque, V-twin cylinder, 4-stroke air-cooled Polaris 653cc engine. This engine delivers class-leading payload, cargo, towing and top speed.
To get superior power transfer in all riding conditions, the RANGER TM uses an automatic Polaris Variable Transmission (PVT). The PVT requires no shifting and responds both to engine RPM and vehicle torque requirements.
The RANGER TM has a total payload capacity of 1,250 pounds. It can tow loads up to 1,000 pounds with a 2 inch receiver hitch. This hitch was added in the 2005 model.
Also standard on the RANGER TM are four-wheel hydraulic disc brakes, halogen headlamps and tail and brake lights. The disc brakes not only stop the RANGER on a dime, they also bring the tow load to a stop. The two dual-beam 35-watt halogen headlamps make working easier before dawn and past daylight.
All of these components make RANGER TM the hardest working utility vehicle in the 2WD class:
