Polaris Adds Power and Electronic Fuel Injection to RANGER 6X6 for Unmatched Capacity

New in 2006, Polaris is introducing the RANGER 6X6 EFI off-road utility vehicle.  This new high-end machine delivers the payload of a full-size pickup truck with the off-road traction and performance of a premier Polaris all-terrain vehicle.

At the core of the RANGER 6X6 is a 40 horsepower, liquid-cooled, even-firing Polaris Liberty™ 700cc parallel-twin engine.  This engine delivers the top horsepower rating for off-road vehicles in the United States and is the reason RANGER 6X6 can carry a payload of 1,750 pounds with a towing capacity to match.  Acceleration is 29 percent higher than previous Polaris models and speed reaches 44 mph -- the fastest in the industry.

Polaris paired this engine with a Bosch® multi-port semi-sequential electronic fuel injection system (EFI).  The pairing makes the RANGER 6X6 responsive and reliable in the type of rugged, off-road terrain that demands sudden and extreme changes in both power requirements and variations in speed.  A Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) in the EFI system ensures the engine delivers extremely precise driver response.

This EFI system constantly and automatically compensates for changes in altitude, pressure and temperature, making the RANGER 6X6 extremely reliable no matter where the rider chooses to go.  The system ensures the RANGER 6X6 engine starts instantly in all conditions from –25 degrees F to 120 degrees F at altitudes up to 10,000 feet.

The RANGER 6X6 appeals to farmers, outdoorsmen, land owners, contractors and
municipalities that need unmatched capacity and off-road traction.  In 2005, these utility vehicle buyers responded with enthusiasm for the workhorse RANGER 6X6. The 2006 RANGER 6X6 EFI retains all of the key components that are so convincing to these buyers.

Among its key features, RANGER 6X6 EFI comes with an exclusive Polaris Lock & Ride™ cargo system to easily carry and organize equipment, gear and loose material. This system combines a redesigned, multi-functional cargo box and a full range of PURE Polaris accessories that attach in less than ten seconds.  The cargo box is big enough to hold a standard pallet, has drain holes for wet material and comes standard with a pickup truck style tailgate and self-cleaning hinge for dumping loose materials.

Like previous RANGER 6X6 vehicles, the RANGER 6X6 EFI provides on-demand six-wheel drive and independent center and rear axle suspension for unmatched performance and a smoother ride. RANGER 6X6 drivers use its Switch-Engaged On-Demand true 6-wheel shaft drive to quickly and easily adapt to changing terrain and loads.

The straightforward diagnostics offered by the EFI system benefit both the rider and the dealer who maintains the vehicle.  Using EFI diagnostic tools, the Polaris dealer can acquire information about the entire fuel system and quickly identify any component needing repair.

The new RANGER 6X6 EFI delivers a unique high-performance ride characterized by these results:
• 44 mph top speed, the fastest in the industry
• 29 percent more acceleration than RANGER 4x4
• Superior power and starting with anywhere, anytime capability

Exclusive to the RANGER 6X6 is:
