Florida’s Jerry “Buz” Sawyer is Renaissance Man, Musician and Vegas Rider
When “Buz” Sawyer sent some photos to the Victory Mailbag of him and his Vegas, he included the address of his website: www.buzmusic.com.

Well, a visit to the site shows that Buz is much more than an avid rider. Take a look at his bio on the feature-packed site:

“Born in North Carolina, raised in Michigan and educated at the Rhode Island School of Electronics and Central New England College in Massachusetts in electrical engineering. U.S. Navy veteran. Formerly worked as test supervisor for Honeywell Information Systems in Boston, engineering supervisor for personal computer products at NEC Technologies In Boxboro, and as OEM senior account manager for Irwin Magnetic Systems, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Has also been successful in real estate sales, corporate marketing/sales, and new business development for various companies. Is an accomplished graphic designer and desktop publisher, having designed artwork, logos, marketing materials for many companies including the U.S. Coast Guard.”

Then there’s music, a major part of Buz’s life and career.

“Played rhythm guitar in several garage bands. Got involved in professional music entertainment in 1995 and still going… Interests include motorcycles, rides/events, guitars, songwriting, movies, horses, boats, flying, parachuting, science/physics, electronic gadgets and parties!”

This is one Victory riders who knows how to live large! Buz lives in North Port, Florida, and here’s his story about his Victory and his riding buddies in the Sunshine State.

“I have owned my 2004 Vegas for exactly one year!” he told the Victory Mailbag in an e-mail received in October 2005. “I bought my Vegas from Performance East in Goldsboro, North Carolina, and I drove there (750 miles) to get it! I was going to buy the ‘other’ traditional American motorcycle, but there were too many positives on the Victory to choose otherwise.

“When I returned home, I called a local independent bike dealer, inquiring if they carried the kind of spark plugs my Vegas used. The man asked me for what kind of bike and when I told him, he got all excited and wanted me to bring my Vegas in for him to see. It turned out the man I spoke with was Frank Alfonso, owner of Thunder Road Classics, who had just become a Victory Dealer!”

So Buz headed over to the dealership and found himself meeting a new set of great friends: fellow Victory riders!

“When I arrived [at the dealership] it was like school letting out!” Buz said. “Everybody came out to check out my Vegas. Soon my Vegas was the ‘model’ to show customers until Thunder Road received their inventory of Victory bikes. I had so much fun showing people my Vegas -- which continues to this day to be a daily occurrence everywhere I go. Since that day, one year ago, Frank Alfonso, Chris and Sherrie Alfonso, Tom, Frank and ‘Noah’ (Thunder Dog!) have become good friends, we ride together and they service my Vegas.”

The dealership impresses Buz more and more as time goes on – and the friendships grow.

“They've become the best Victory dealer in the southwest Florida area, Just absolutely great people selling great Victory motorcycles,” he said. “I am so happy with my Vegas and I'm already planning to buy second Victory, a Touring Cruiser, for the long hauls. Thank you for producing such fantastic motorcycles and giving us biker consumers a ‘real’ choice!”

Thanks for choosing Victory, Buz, and keep the tunes coming for those music fans in Florida.
