Polaris 440 IQ Domination Rolls On; Swedish Championship Sets Stage For 2006

Jörgen Backman dominates and captures the 440 Pro Stock Swedish Championship on his Polaris 440 IQ Race Sled.
MEDINA, MN (August 16, 2005) – In 2005, Polaris snowmobile racers in Sweden riding the breakthrough Polaris 440 IQ race sled put an exclamation point on what was a globally dominant season by capturing the Swedish Championship in the very competitive Pro Stock 440 Class. This victory was in addition to the two snocross titles locked up by Finnish racers and four WSA championships won by North American racers – all in the same season.

In Sweden, it was Jörgen Backman, riding the powerful and proven Polaris 440 IQ race sled that dominated the entire field – winning every pre-race and the Pro Stock 440 finals in Sveg. Sweden. “The 440 IQ is the best machine I have ever ridden – it’s the biggest reason for my results this year,” said Backman. “In 2006, we’re hoping to pick up where we left off.”

The second place spot was battled over until the bitter end – with Mac Liljenberg, also riding a Polaris 440 IQ, winning every semifinal during the final day – which sealed a solid 1-2 season finish for Polaris.

Mac Liljenberg, also riding a Polaris 440 IQ, finished second, giving Polaris a solid 1-2 season finish in the Swedish Pro Stock 440.
In the Pro 800 Class, Polaris racer Peter Ericson’s IQ race sled carried him and Polaris to a strong second place finish in the Swedish final. Peter won every race during the day which gave him the necessary points to seal the deal. “The (Polaris IQ) machine is so complete, that I can spend more time riding and training before the races which has helped to produce great results,” said Ericson.

Finally, Polaris racer Johan Eriksson, known as Big Air Swede, battled it out to wrap up what was a challenging Pro 800 season for him – landing in a respectable 5th place.

Polaris Winning Performance – From the Track, To the Trail, To Your Garage In 2006
As it showed all season long in 2005 around the globe, the Polaris 440 IQ race sled was the clear performance and innovation leader on the racing circuit – and in 2006, that same winning performance can be in your garage.

The magic that makes the Liberty 440 engine the powerhouse that it is in the 440 IQ was the foundation for the Liberty 600 HO engine found in several 2006 Polaris production models. The 600 mill touts a deep breathing crankcase, W-reeds and potent 120-horesepower punch.

Peter Ericson and Johan Eriksson finish strong in Pro 800.
But this class-leading engine configuration is only part of the story. The same technology found in the IQ™ chassis that has already made a name for itself on the track is the backbone for several 2006 Polaris models including the class-leading 600 HO Fusion; turbo charged FST Switchback and deep snow king 700 RMK. Each combines industry leading innovations and suspension technologies found on the IQ™ Chassis with race-proven Liberty power to dominate the trails.
